Reflection

April invites the heart to remain close to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. This evening prayer is filled with adoration, repentance, and trust, drawing the soul into a quiet awareness of Christ truly present and lovingly attentive.

The prayers also lead gently into surrender. With the Confiteor, the examination of conscience, the acts of faith, hope, charity, and contrition, the soul is taught to end the day in humility and peace before God.

This monthly rhythm of prayer keeps the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus at the center. In that sacred presence, we ask for mercy, protection, perseverance, and the grace to rest in Him through the night.

Prayer

Sign of the Cross

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Blessed be the holy and undivided Trinity, now and forevermore, Amen.

Come, O Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful

and kindle in them the fire of Your divine love.

Evening Adoration

Let us place ourselves in the presence of God.

Humbly adore Him.

Great God, the Lord of heaven and earth, I prostrate myself before You.

With all the Angels and Saints, I adore You. I acknowledge You to be my Creator and sovereign Lord,

my first beginning, and last end.

I render to You the homage of my being and life. I submit myself to Your holy Will, and I devote myself to Your divine service, now and forever.

Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name.

Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, Amen.

Regina Caeli

Queen of heaven, rejoice, Alleluia!

For he whom you did merit to bear, Alleluia!

Has risen as He said, Alleluia!

Pray for us to God, Alleluia!

Rejoice and be glad, O Virgin Mary, Alleluia!

For the Lord has truly risen, Alleluia!

Let us pray;

O God, Who gave joy to the world through the resurrection of Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ,

grant, we beseech You that through the intercession of the Virgin Mary, his Mother,

we may obtain the joys of everlasting life, through the same Christ our Lord, Amen.

Prayer for Health of Body & Soul

O Lord Jesus Christ,

who during Your brief life on earth went about doing good to all men,

be merciful to us in our needs.

O Divine Physician,

your tender Heart was ever moved at the sight of pain and affliction.

I beg of You, if it be in Your holy Will,

to help us regain our health and strength,

stretch forth Your hand to all who suffer, whether in mind or body.

Grant to each of us that peace of soul, which You alone can give.

Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on us.

Apostles Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth,

and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord,

Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was Crucified, died, and was buried.

He descended into hell, the third day He rose again from the dead;

He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty;

from there He shall come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

the Holy Catholic Church,

the Communion of Saints,

the forgiveness of sins,

the Resurrection of the Body,

and life everlasting, Amen.

Angelic Hymn of Adoration (Rev 4:8, Isaiah 6:3)

Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty!

Who was, and is, and is to come.

Heaven and earth are full of Your glory, Hosanna in the highest!

We join our voices with the angels in adoring You, O Lord, present in the Blessed Sacrament. Let every breath we take be an act of love for Your Eucharistic Heart, Amen.

Gloria Patri

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.

As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end, Amen.

The Confiteor

I confess to Almighty God,

to blessed Mary ever Virgin,

to blessed Michael the Archangel,

to blessed John the Baptist,

to the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul,

and to all the Saints,

that I have sinned exceedingly

in thought,

word,

and deed,

through my fault,

through my fault,

through my most grievous fault.

Therefore, I beseech blessed Mary ever Virgin,

blessed Michael the Archangel,

blessed John the Baptist,

the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul,

and all the Saints,

to pray to the Lord our God for me.

May Almighty God have mercy upon us,

forgive us our sins,

and bring us to life everlasting, Amen.

May the almighty and merciful Lord grant us pardon,

absolution,

and remission of our sins, Amen.

Act of Faith

O my God, I firmly believe that You are one God in three divine Persons,

the Father,

the Son,

and the Holy Spirit. I believe that Your divine Son became man and died for our sins,

and that he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe these and all the truths which the Holy Catholic Church teaches,

because You have revealed them,

Who can neither deceive nor be deceived.

Act of Hope

O my God, relying on thy infinite goodness and promises,

I hope to obtain pardon of my sins,

the help of Your grace,

and life everlasting,

through the merits of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Redeemer.

Act of Charity

O my God, I love You above all things,

with my whole heart and soul,

because You are all good and worthy of all love.

I love my neighbor as myself for the love of You.

I forgive all who have injured me,

and ask pardon of all whom I have injured.

Act of Contrition

O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended You, and I detest all my sins,

because I dread the loss of heaven and the pains of hell,

but most of all because they offend You, my God, Who are all good and deserving of all my love.

I firmly resolve with the help of Your grace

to confess my sins,

to do penance,

and to amend my life, Amen.

Saint Faustina’s Prayer to the Eucharistic Jesus

Jesus, hidden in the Blessed Sacrament, I love You for all the graces You have given me. I thank You for dwelling in my soul, and I desire to love You more each day.

Jesus, unite my heart with Yours and teach me to trust You completely.

Let my soul be a living tabernacle for You, and may I never leave Your presence, Amen.

Litany of the Blessed Virgin

Lord, have mercy on us.

Christ, have mercy on us.

Lord, have mercy on us.

Christ, hear us.

Christ, graciously hear us.

God, the Father of heaven, have mercy on us.

God the Son, Redeemer of the world, have mercy on us.

God, the Holy Spirit, have mercy on us.

Holy Trinity, one God, have mercy on us.

Holy Mary, pray for us.

Holy Mother of God, pray for us.

Holy Virgin of Virgins, pray for us.

Mother of Christ, pray for us.

Mother of divine grace, pray for us.

Mother most pure, pray for us.

Mother most chaste, pray for us.

Queen Assumed into heaven, pray for us.

Queen of the most Holy Rosary, pray for us.

Queen of peace, pray for us.

Lamb of God, Who takes away the sins of the world, spare us, O Lord.

Lamb of God, Who takes away the sins of the world, graciously hear us, O Lord.

Lamb of God, Who takes away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.

Pray for us, O holy Mother of God,

that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Let us pray.

Grant that we, Your servants, Lord,

may enjoy unfailing health of mind and body,

and through the prayers of the ever blessed Virgin Mary in her glory,

free us from our sorrows in this world

and give us eternal happiness in the next.

Through Christ our Lord, Amen.

Prayer for the Faithful Departed

O God, the Creator and Redeemer of all the faithful, grant to the souls of Your servants departed the remission of all their sins:

that through pious supplications, they may obtain that pardon, which they have always desired:

Who livest and reignest world without end, Amen.

Prayer for a Happy Passing

O God, Who has doomed all men to die, but has concealed from all the hour of their death,

grant that I may pass my days in the practice of holiness and justice,

and that I may deserve to quit this world in the peace of a good conscience and in the embraces of Your love. Through Christ our Lord, Amen.

Angel of God

Angel of God, to whose holy care I am committed by the divine mercy,

enlighten, defend and protect me this night from all sin and danger, Amen.

Prayer for Protection During the Night

Visit we beseech You, O Lord, this habitation,

and drive from it all the snares of the enemy.

Let Your holy Angels dwell herein to preserve us in peace;

and may Your blessing be upon us forever,

through Christ our Lord, Amen.

Night Blessing

God the Father, bless us;

Jesus Christ, defend and keep us;

the virtue of the Holy Spirit enlighten and sanctify us this night and forever;

and made the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace, Amen.

Prayer Before Rest

Bless, O Lord, the repose I’m going to take in order to renew my strength, that I may be better able to serve You. O all you Saints and Angels, but chiefly you, O Mother of God,

intercede for me this night and during the rest of my life,

but particularly at the hour of my death.

May the divine assistance remain always with us, Amen.

Psalm 129: De Profundis, Out of the Depths

We have committed sins,

we confess, we have sinned,

but God grants pardon to those who repent.

Out of the depths, have I cried to Thee, O Lord;

Lord, hear my voice.

Let thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplication.

If Thou, O Lord, shalt observe iniquities;

Lord, who shall endure it?

For with Thee there is merciful forgiveness;

and by reason of Thy Law I have waited for Thee, O Lord.

My soul hath relied on His word;

my soul hath hoped in the Lord.

From the morning watch even until night let Israel hope in the Lord.

For with the Lord there is mercy, and with Him plentiful redemption;

and He shall redeem Israel from all His iniquities.

Eternal rest give unto them, O Lord;

and let perpetual light shine upon them.

May they rest in peace, Amen.

Let us pray.

O God, the Giver of pardon and Lover of man’s salvation,

we beseech You in Your mercy to grant that our brethren, kinsfolk and benefactors who have passed out of this life,

may, by the intercession of blessed Mary ever Virgin and all of Your Saints, partake of everlasting bliss.

Through Christ our Lord, Amen.

Evensong

Sweet Savior, bless us ere we go;

Your word into our minds instill;

and make our lukewarm hearts to glow

with lowly love and fervent will.

Through life’s long day and death’s dark night, O gentle Jesus, be our light.

The day is done, its hours have run;

And you have taken count of all,

The scanty triumphs grace has won,

the broken vow,

the frequent fall.

Through life’s long day and death’s dark night, O gentle Jesus, be our light.

Grant us, dear Lord, from evil ways,

True absolution and release;

And to bless us more than in past days with purity and inward peace.

Through life’s long day and death’s dark night, O gentle Jesus, be our light.

Do more than pardon, give us joy,

sweet fear, and sober liberty,

and loving hearts without alloy that only long to be like Thee.

Through life’s long day and death’s dark night, O gentle Jesus, be our light.

Labor is sweet, for You have toiled, and care is light, for You have cared;

Let not our works with self be soiled, nor in unsimple ways ensnared.

Through life’s long day and death’s dark night, O gentle Jesus, be our light.

For all we love, the poor, the sad, the sinful, unto You we call;

Oh let Your mercy make us glad;

You are our Jesus and our all!

Through lifelong day and death’s dark night, O gentle Jesus, be our light.

Prayer to My Guardian Angel

Angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom His love entrusts me here;

Ever this night be at my side to light and guard, to rule and guide, Amen.

Anima Christi

Soul of Christ, sanctify me;

Body of Christ, save me;

Blood of Christ, inebriate me;

Water from the side of Christ, wash me.

Passion of Christ, strengthen me;

O good Jesus, hear me;

Within Your wounds, hide me;

Suffer me not to be separated from Thee.

From the malicious enemy, defend me;

At the hour of my death, call me, and bid me come to Thee;

That with Your Saints, I may praise You forever and ever, Amen.

Saint Michael the Archangel

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle;

be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,

and do thou, O prince of the heavenly host,

by the power of God,

cast into hell Satan

and all the evil spirits

who prowl throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls, Amen.

Closing Prayer

May the Heart of Jesus in the most Blessed Sacrament be praised,

adored, and loved with grateful affection, at every moment,

in all the Tabernacles of the world, even to the end of time, Amen.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

And may the presence of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament bring you peace, protection, and rest through the night.
